Controls Assembler Level 1

Role: Reporting to the Supervisor, Wiring Department, the L1 Controls Assembler is responsible for installing all electrical conduit and control wiring to
various devices required on the transformer, under supervision and guidance.

Role Responsibilities:

•Wiring control boxes
• Mounting of control boxes
• Installing and laying out conduit
• Installing external wires by using wiring diagrams
• Wiring of control cabinets and preparing transformers for test
• Disconnect all wiring associated with tank cover removal if a unit fails
• Prepare unit for painting and shipping
• Assisting in completing PCR checks
• Complying with the Manitoba Workplace Health and Safety regulations
• Taking reasonable care to protect oneself and others who may be affected by their actions or omissions
• Using all devices, clothing and personal protective equipment designated by PTI and by the regulations
• Cooperating with the workplace safety and health committee or representative
• Cooperating with other persons regarding workplace safety and health matters
• Performing according to company’s certified ISO standards

Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:

•Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a team environment
• Ability to learn how to read, understand, and interpret drawings, sketches, schematic interpretations and
engineering specification blueprints
• Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
• Basic mathematics knowledge for controls (Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals
• Understanding control components
• Attention to detail
• Computer literacy is an asset
• Problem solving, initiative, self-starter
• Ability to obtain the following training as required: Fall protection, WHMIS, Aerial work platform and other safe work training applicable to
